Quote of the Day: "I like being a woman, even in a man’s world. After all, men can’t wear dresses, but we can wear the pants."
— Whitney Houston
Song of the Day: Calvin Harris ft. Kelis- Bounce
Ciao, Gütentag, Bonjour, Hello…that's about all I know. This is me trying to look extremely cultured and failing. It's not like I totally just copy pasted this from Google Translations.
I would like to introduce a new segment on my blog called Steeze Steelz. It will be every month and will show you the best fashion finds I managed to snag at that time. Also, It‘ll tell you how you can pair them to make yourself look fashionable or at least not fashion challenged.
Anywho, this weekend I finally got to go shopping. My parents feel its unnecessary to "spend" money on clothes every month resulting in my virtually nonexistent fashion friendly closet. Thanks to having a big sister-that can make even the most hideous of corduroy pants look like something off the shelves of Saks Fifth- I don't look like a social leper when walking outside to face the day.
My mom thought it was finally time to treat me after all these years of wardrobe abuse. So she gave me the Holy Grail of all shopping, the root of life or the politically correct term le credit card. I know, I know your probably thinking Who is this bad-ass and how can I be just like her? And it's fine really I'm totally flattered.
When going to the mall it's best to look for sale's although I had a limitless supply to spend that day I still was money conscious. You don't want to put your parents in bankruptcy then be forced to wear the latest scrubs from Wal-Mart. I'm just looking for your best interests trust me…or don't its your call.
Tip: Never waste your time on shops you know don't have sales because it's waste of time. For example, True Religion wasn't packed, so being the daredevil that I am, I casually walked in waiting to put another addition into the wardrobe. I asked for their sales, they responded with "$5 off your purchase of any True Religion jeans". I subtly walked out never looking back again. I now knew why no one was in the store. Point and Proof.
As I walked past stores like American Apparel and Zara -that were packed to the brim with people- I found myself slowly inching towards Call It Spring. If I haven't already told you I really like that store for many reasons 1. It's cool and 2. It's British. And my theory is that Britons were the first to invent hipster-ism.
I've been looking for the right boots to purchase for a long time. I finally found the perfect pair and I got it for a steal of $80. With this shoe you can wear almost anything with it because the style is so flexible. I don't really like anything over this length because whenever I see anything higher I think cheap hooker. No offense. But don't feel like I'm trying to govern your style because that's definitely not my intention.
What to Pair?
With this I would go with a chino pant or any other type of cropped or nicely tailored pant. Which you can pair with a long blazer.

I've never really stepped foot in Smart Set I always pegged it for the fashion equivalent of Pennington's but surprisingly they had some really cute stuff for a price that made me even happier.
This is a burgundy-red skater dress originally 75 dollars and I got it for 20. Because of the zipper detailing and the awkward v neckline you don't want to over power the piece with a necklace that stops right at the neckline. For something like this I would opt for a long pendant or a choker.
Note: Wearing this dress with tights and a sweater over top (that of course covered the neckline) would make it all the more cuter or you could even try the good ole front to back look which works out 8 out of 10 times.

I also got this creme knit sweater. It's extremely cute and the 10 bucks I spent on it is even cuter. The gold zipper detailing went with my theme and also added a unique edge to it not to mention the boxy high low cut at the bottom gives it a certain je ne sais quoi
Accessorize? Yes. Yes. Yes. That is a must. With this I'd be a risk taker and pair it with a big flashy necklace. It could be a contradictory color. Who cares! With this type of sweater, the more accessories the better.
Also, remember no good outfit is ever complete without a statement piece. And that's just what I thought when I went to Topshop and purchased myself a red look-a-like Cambridge Satchel. I know I should have bought the real deal but it was nowhere to be found in that pitiful excuse of a mall and the $60 price was just too good to pass up.
So when shopping remember these rules and shop till you drop, but not literally.
Au Revoir,
Jay
