Song of The Day : Mount Kimbie- Made to Stray
If you haven't already heard I'm a fan of music. No that's incorrect I'm a junkie maybe even an addict. I can sincerely say I may love music more than I love fashion...okay that may be pushing it. Music is with me from the morning to the night and never really gets a break in between. I grew up with music and I'll probably die with headphones in my ear. I've taken it upon myself to graze you with my awesome musical taste. I personally feel that nobodies life is complete without sampling Jessica's Infinite Playlist-which is moi! So join me...if you dare.I know, you may be expecting me to drone on about the ultimate hipster bands which ranges from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones. Pardon my language but I think that they're all crap. Nothing about The Beatles or The Rolling Stones is remotely intriguing and you can quote me on it. Many of you may be outraged but it's the truth. I personally feel that those bands are what we like to call The Bandwagoners.
The Bandwagoners- those bands that you like not because you knew them from day one, or because you just like they're music no, it's because society thinks there cool and all your friends feel there cool so you take it upon yourself to forcibly like them and listen to them. Some of them include: The Ramones, Lorde, Foster The People, The Neighborhood, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky etc.
For Example: This March I'm going to a Miley Cyrus concert with one of my best friends..Do I love Miley Cyrus's music? No. Do I know more than three songs from her 'Bangerz' album? No. Will everyone at my school be extremely jealous that they're not at that concert when I post it on twitter? Yes. Do I have an extremely cute outfit to wear that day? Hell yah. Point and Proof.
But sometimes The Bandwagoners may actually be your favorite bands and artists-don't worry it's my dirty little secret, I like them too-and that's fine but if you just like them because everyone else likes them, you need to find what I like to call a personality.
I'm sorry I'm not mean, just call me ....passionate.
I don't have a specific genre of music I listen to. I can go from pop to country in a snap of a finger. But my heart lies at Alternative music whether its Alternative Rock, Alternative Pop to Indie it's in my ears. I can't help to fall in love with the weird unique sounds of each band as they take me to different planets. I feel out of my own body and it makes me feel like someone else. Sometimes you need a break from yourself, and this gives me that break.
Bands and Artists I like: The Neighbourhood, Lorde, The 1975, Snowmine, Yeah Yeahs, Bastille, Capital Cities, Group Love, Japanese Popstars, Two Door Cinema, Death Cab for Cutie, City and Color, Band of Horses, Mount Kimbie, King Krule, John Newman, Avicii, Calvin Harris, The Strokes, The Cure, Oasis and much more
Now this is Death Cab for Cutie and I am totally in love with their "PLANS" album. I would be lying if I said I hadn't just discovered them but they are amazing.
I can't forget John Newman and The Rudimentals. Both of which are English artist. There collabs never disappoint and even when separate they are the epitome of bomb-diggity. If you haven't already heard John Newman's Love Me Again I'd think you haven't been watching enough television because that's all you here these days.
Of you like lounge and dance music Disclosure is the place to go because that's all they do.
Ever since playing Fifa with my brother I couldn't stop listening to this song and I'm pretty sure I make up a good chunk of the thousands of views on this video. This is Foo Fighters and I can't stand the rest of their music but I do really like them.
Now there's always that one oddball artist that you like but you can't explain why and that for me is King Krule. Believe me when I say, I hated him at first but after numerous times of hearing him in my sister's room I fell in love with his depressing sound. Other songs from him; The Noose of Jah City, Bleak Bake
Now I'll stop boring you with all of this because I know if I don't stop now, I'll probably never stop. So to save you from scrolling down infinitely I'll just leave you to it.
Adios,
L I S T E N T O T H E S E:
This is West Coast by The Neighborhood. They were a Los Angeles based band before they were discovered and I just adore them. I tried to get tickets for there concert in Toronto- a concert I'd been waiting to go to for almost a year- only to find that they were sold out. If you like them be sure listen to songs like; Sweater Weather, No Grey and Baby Came Home
This is Snowmine. They're a New York based band and categorized under psycho-pop music. They may be a little acquired but give them a try you might actually like them.
Lorde, if you haven't heard of her I will allow thee to jump off Mount Everest because she's just amazing. She was a New Zealand based artist before she was discovered and boy am I happy she was. I remember when only a handful of people knew her and look at her now. If you like this song go buy her Pure Heroin album and her The Love Club EP the're many other great songs on there too.
