Qoute of the Day: "I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it."
— Alexander McQueen
Song of the Day: RadioHead- Lotus Flower (Jaques Greene Remix)
There comes a time in one's life where everything social media needs to be shut off. A time where celebrities get front row seats to the hottest of shows. A time where over-credited socialites like Kendall Jenner are rubbing shoulders with fashion royalty like Anne Wintour. This time is Fashion Week.
Sorry that I haven't updated in a while but I couldn't bare to see all the Instagram photos or stupid tweets of how awesome people with equally as awesome lives were living it up this past week while I stayed at home with a smashed iPhone screen and an abundant amount of English homework. I'll tell you this before I start, every time fashion weeks comes around I tend to coincidentally disappear off the face off the earth and drown my sorrows in cheap Chapman's ice cream. So next time I go Caspar you'll know why.
There are four major fashion weeks and for some reason Toronto thinks their part of that fantastic four which is laughable to say the least. NYC, Milan, London and Paris come together twice a year to tell us what's in and what's out. They show us the newest trends of the season so we don't commit fashion suicide when frolicking the streets of our hometown, and for that we are extremely grateful. With 256 shows in about the time span of a month it's no wonder Fashion Week is one of the most popular events in the world. But sadly it is near impossible to see all these shows at once with all the intertwining schedules. It's a dog eat dog world, what can I say?

Now, I'm sure there were many awesome and wonderful collections strutting down the Mercedes Benz catwalk but naming all of them would be a bore. So I'm going to stick with all the highlights of last week.

Escada, DKNY, Prabal Gurung and Narcisco Rodriguez showed us that this fall season it's not bad to be pretty in pink...or red..or orange? It looks like some designers were really feeling the love that Valentine's Day brings.

Tommy Hilfiger brought us old ski chalet meets American Outdoors and Pocahontas all rolled together in one

Who ever said sportswear couldn't become ready-to-wear? Alexander Wang and Rebecca Taylor are just some of the designers that show us that it's not impossible to combine the two to make a beautiful harmonic piece. On this week's runway we got to see bold vibrant pops of colors on rather dull material but boy did it look enticing.

Shine bright like a diamond, is what this year's designer's are telling us. Bare-necked models strut their stuff on the catwalk and show us that accessorizing isn't everything especially when you have a shimmering piece like they do. Designer's like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Delpozo and Marc Jacobs show us just that. Underlining Message? Keep accessories light so it doesn't take away from your main piece which is obviously you...
FUR! FUR! FUR! Well if that wasn't an obvious trend at NYFW for you, I'd think your blind. Celebrities bundled up in faux to real furs last week to keep warm. One second it's bad to have fur the next second it's in? Designer's like DKNY and J. Mendel show that winter wait's for no one.Hush little furries don't say a word before the designer's shave you in a wild massacre.

Mid length skirts and chunky sweaters with scarves were also adorning the runways but, we already knew that. Sometimes I feel like fashion week is trying to save the environment by falling into the patterns of reduce, reuse and recycle...but that's just me. I still love it though.
With new fashion trends always comes beauty trends but...you won;t be getting those from me. But I would like too add red lips, pixie cuts, winged eyes and bold eye-shadows are sure making a splurge this year.
PS. Let's just congratulate Francisco Costa for ten years of being Women's Creative Director of Calvin Klein.
Happy Valentines,

Muted Hues and Soft Pastels are all the rave this fall. Keeping it simple is also something that we need to keep in mind when heading outside. Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs and Narcisco Rodriguez are just a few of the designers showing us that loud isn't always the most fashion forward.
