Quote of the Day
"Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live." — Gianni VersaceSong of the Day: Magic-Coldplay
Inspiration. One of the most important concepts in fashion. We design to inspire and we style to inspire. Without inspiration we wouldn't have the creativity to power the universe. Okay cut this is getting way too Ghandi for me. But my message is still the same fashion originated from the streets. Designers like Karl Legerfield and Betsy Johnson would not be where they are today without being inspired by the people around them. This is the beginning of my Street Steeze segment.
Over the past months my sister and I have been walking the streets of downtown Toronto finding the best styles around. Let me tell you it was not easy but after endlessly sifting through the abundant amount of brainwashed mainstreams, we finally found salvageable outfits that were worthy of sliding into my blog posts. In this section you will see a few pictures a month- depending on how frequently I see "blogger-worthy" outfits. Some may be right up your ally and other well...they might be more on the acquired side if anything but fashion and style is all about creativity and uniqueness . And who knows you might see yourself decorated on my Street Steeze seg.
TIP: Always stick with one trend and roll with it. Sport related attire is in right now so instead of slipping on that fall jacket or thick cardigan opt for a baseball jacket or cap. Believe me, it makes all the difference.
Tip: Be a rule breaker don't follow the trends of other people, be your own trendsetter. Try on style pieces you'd never even think of pulling together. By the time you know it people will be asking you where you got your clothes from.
Who said simple can't be chic? Sometimes trying your least hardest may be the best outfit you pulled out in a long time. Have you ever spent hours looking for a cool chic outfit then at the end of the day you settle on some pretty mediocre stuff with only a few stylish pieces? Then you find out it looks pretty good? Yah, well this is what this guy did and it works. Can anyone get a hashtag relatable (#relatable) trend up in here or what?
Tip: Don't ever second guess your style. Remember one man's trash is another man's treasure, although that almost has nothing to do with anything we are going to casually let that inspirational quote slip. Pair simple pieces together and have one nice statement piece like that red Topshop bag in my previous post.
Ironica is his name...being cool is his game. Everything about his beard to his boots scream ironic and there's no getting past that chevron shave residing on his upper lip. When walking up to this fine fellow he was surprised to say the least:
Me: "I love how you rock what your wearing may I take a picture?"
Him: after looking around he points to himself "Me?"
Needless to say although he's not a stylist or fashion enthusiast he showed that anyone could rock an everyday style by using simple accessories like his chevron 'stashe with cool shoes to match. Cheesy right?

Tartan is in and this man clearly knew that. Although I did not get his name -partly because I was running late to my hotbox appointment with Rob Ford (oops did I let that slip)-I wish I really had because he could be the role model for all maturing men worldwide. It's only a matter of time before young boys- and girls- realize that snap backs died along with Lil' Kim's first face.
The Fashion Rebel
There's nothing better than breaking the rules. Pattern on pattern on pattern and I cannot get enough. This is a prime example of how being unique pays off. If it were to be any other person wearing this it'd probably be worse than a train wreck but her quirky style resonates with herself. And dare try to tell me that that blond is all wrong, because I might be forced to make your life less than livable.
